NFL draft rumors: Browns host three quarterbacks on top-30 visits

The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t the only AFC North team looking for a solution under center.

According to multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns hosted Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough for top-30 visits on Tuesday.

That news broke hours after reports that the Steelers planned to host Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders on a top-30 visit of their own on Thursday.

As the name suggests, a ‘top-30 visit’ is one of 30 official visit invites that each team is allowed ahead of the draft. However, the name does not necessarily imply a player is within the top 30 players on a given team’s big board of prospects.

Of the 30 visits Cleveland is allowed, the team has used five on official visits for quarterbacks, as Dart, Milroe and Shough join Sanders and Miami (Fla.) quarterback Cam Ward.

ESPN also reported that Dart plans to visit the Las Vegas Raiders later this week, and that he’s spent ‘considerable time’ with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams.

The Browns offense finished the 2024 season with the worst expected points added (EPA) per play of all 32 teams. Their EPA and success rate on dropbacks also ranked 32nd in the NFL.

Four different quarterbacks started at least one game for Cleveland in 2024: Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe. Of those four, only Watson is still on the roster, and he could miss all of the 2025 season after he tore his Achilles in Week 7 last year then re-tore it during his recovery.

The Browns let Winston (Giants) and Zappe (Chiefs) walk in free agency, and they traded Thompson-Robinson to the Eagles as part of a package for quarterback Kenny Pickett. Pickett is in line to be the team’s Week 1 starter if it doesn’t make any more moves in free agency or the draft.

Cleveland finished the 2024 season with a 3-14 record and hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
